Just for a Moment

Over the course of my life

I have experienced moments of wondering.

I have stood the precipice of possibility,

while time stretches into a small infinity.

Endless futures lie in front of me.

Until I choose one to be mine,

solidified, they all exist.

Only for a single moment in time.

I will make a choice. I always do.

The choice is harder when

all my futures are equally intriguing.

They rarely are.

Nevertheless it is nice to know

that for just a moment

I can sit wondering what can be,

in all of those infinite possibilities,

rather than what could have been.
