Special thanks to author Robert Bryndza and publisher Bookoture for giving me a copy of The Girl In The Ice through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Hello Everyone!

I have only started to read thriller books. As one of the first ones that I have read, I really enjoyed this book. It was very refreshing to see a woman that was very strong but was also processing through a lot of PTSD from her past. Erika reminded me a lot of Bones from the TV Show Bones. DCI Erika Foster is harboring a lot of guilt from her past and the investigation of Andrea Douglas-Brown pulls her back into her life as a detective inspector. With all that happened in Erika’s past, she has to fight through the messy politics of investigative while also fighting the press and a Andrea’s parents. She has her work cut out for her though. The list of suspects is almost never ending, which makes it difficult for the audience to guess who the killer is before the end.

Bryndza works meticulously to craft a convincing murder mystery with lots of suspense. He gives the readers just enough to keep them reading but also leaves enough open until the moment he needs information to be revealed, then he drops one bomb after another. In the midst of a gripping storyline, Bryndza also creates a fabulous cast of characters that compliment Erika perfectly. Peterson, Moss, Marsh and Sparks caused conflict, called Erika out when she needed to be called out but also supported her work and functioned as a unit with her.All of the parts of this book worked well. The creepy parts, the moments that had me sit straighter and the moments that made me laugh. There were even moments where I felt great emotional sympathy. I would recommend this to fans of thrillers, mysteries and police crime novels. With the way this book swept me off of my feet and into Bryndza’s setting of dreary London, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this book receive huge hype in the future.
